Catalent Biologics Emeryville, CA site, formerly the startup company Redwood Bioscience, has developed a proprietary approach for site-specific bioconjugation to produce next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). This technology, termed SMARTag®, is based on use of the aldehyde-tag site-specific protein modification technology and Catalent’s novel conjugation chemistry and proprietary, stable linkers. SMARTag is a clinical-stage technology that was named Runner Up for Best Platform at the 2022 World ADC Awards in San Diego, CA. The Catalent Biologics Emeryville site comprises a close-knit team of scientists working cross-functionally with each other to nimbly achieve our goals and milestones. We are a research site, working to develop therapeutic ADC drug candidates for clinical testing. We also continuously strive to improve and expand our technology platform. The team has a focus on publishing papers and filing intellectual property to contribute to the exciting and dynamic field of bioconjugation and drug conjugates.
Catalent in Emeryville, CA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant (Intern) who will be responsible for inventory/operations duties, general lab maintenance and assisting scientists in various research activities. This is an exciting part-time opportunity for an individual who is willing to gain laboratory experience and be a part of a multi-disciplinary biotechnology research team. This position is based in Emeryville, CA, 94608 in the EmeryStation West campus, at 5959 Horton St., easily accessible by BART / EmeryGoRound, AMTRAK, or car (with private, secured, on-site car and bike parking provided).
This is a PART-TIME position, Monday – Friday with flexible working hours between 8am-5pm (15-25-hours/week). Set working hours must be established pending school schedule changes.

The Role:
- Clean and maintain laboratory work areas, glassware, and equipment
- Prepare stock solutions and buffers according to established protocols
- Assist in managing chemical and biological waste
- Maintain, organize, and order laboratory supplies
- Support Scientists with research activities and inventory
- Other duties as assigned
The Candidate:
- Must have attained a high-school diploma and currently be enrolled in an undergraduate degree (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc.)
- Minimum of two years of relevant laboratory experience or scientific coursework is required
- Must commit to a set weekly part-time schedule with work hours between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday -Friday (no nights or weekends). This is an ideal position for students or anyone looking for a flexible part-time job supporting a research team
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques such as weighing materials and preparing solutions, is preferred. Experience with maintenance of inventory and order management systems also preferred
- Physical Requirements: On an average day this position requires the ability to walk, sit and stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents, visual inspection of materials and use of computer monitor screen frequently
Pay:
