About the role

Description

Job Type: Full-time | Location: Childress, Texas | Department: Construction | Reporting to: Associate Director, Construction | Work Location: #onsite

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.

This role places you at the foundation of how next-generation data centers are built. As a Construction Manager – Civil / Structural, you’ll lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the civil and structural work that enables large-scale, high-performance computing infrastructure—from earthworks and foundations to structural steel and underground utilities. Working in fast-paced, mission-critical environments, you’ll own field execution, coordinate across engineering, procurement, and construction teams, and ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. If you thrive in roles where decisions in the field directly shape project outcomes and long-term performance, this position offers meaningful responsibility, technical challenge, and a clear path for continued leadership growth.

With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall planning, direction, organization, and budgeting of all civil and structural construction activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.

  • Develop and implement construction strategies, execution plans, schedules, and project frameworks to support efficient delivery and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure Construction Work Packages (CWPs) are clearly defined, coordinated, and aligned with Engineering and Procurement deliverables.

  • Supervise daily civil and structural construction activities—including earthworks, concrete, structural steel, and utilities—to ensure alignment with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.

  • Manage and mentor subcontractors and field personnel, ensuring productivity, adherence to quality expectations, and compliance with safety protocols and OSHA/site-specific requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks, maintaining risk, compliance, and safety registers covering health and safety, deliverables, claims, and litigation exposure.

  • Oversee project audits and maintain the Project Document Management System, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor work progress and quality, address deficiencies promptly, and ensure all work complies with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Provide technical guidance and construction expertise to engineering, procurement, commissioning, and project management teams.

  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities, auditors, service providers, and vendors to support permitting, inspections, compliance assessments, and project approvals.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, simplify governance frameworks, and enhance construction and compliance workflows.

  • Develop and deliver “fit-for-purpose” training programs related to risk management, compliance, construction procedures, and best practices.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders; provide clear communication, progress reporting, and training on emerging project issues or compliance requirements.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation—including daily reports, schedules, and change orders—to support reporting, project controls, and audit requirements.

  • Resolve on-site challenges (e.g., weather delays, design conflicts, labor constraints) proactively to maintain project momentum and ensure timely completion of milestones.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
