About the role
SUMMARYPlant Journeyman (PJ) or Journeyman (J) maintain, install and repair production equipment and maintain the facility. Perform repairs in one or more areas with little or no supervision per service manuals and manufacturer’s specifications. Under the direction of the Plant Supervising Electrician, install wiring for new machinery and professionally replace electrical components. Perform preventative or corrective maintenance on facilities and production electrical equipment and light mechanical repairs as needed.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are typical for this role. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.* Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair electronic controls and equipment that require advanced technical knowledge including switches, controls, central and subsidiary control panels on machine tools and welding equipment, as well as circuits on welding machines, paint equipment, shot blasters and other process equipment.* Diagnose and remedy electrical problems on all electrical apparatus including communications equipment, power circuit, motors, generators, and cranes.* Work from oral and written instructions, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and codebooks.* Will be trained in: Parts ordering and issuing procedures, Operation of Ariel Man lifts, Scissor Lifts, Lockout Tag out Policy and program.
QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe following generally describes requirements to enter the job and/or be learned within a short period to successfully perform the assigned duties.* Has a broad knowledge of applied electrical practices, techniques, and theory of operation of electrical and electronic equipment and controls.* to wear required Electrical PPE (face shield, balaclava, coveralls, and insulated gloves).* Ability to perform installation, repairs from oral and written instructions, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings and codebooks.* Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.* Ability to communicate effectively as a member of a team.* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.* Strong worth ethic, flexible, reliable, and punctual.
