About the role

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator Manager leads a team of Systems Administrators in the design, implementation, and support of Equitas Health’s IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the security, performance, and high availability of critical systems and services, including servers, storage, backups, virtualization, cloud identity, and voice systems.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Manager plays a pivotal role in aligning system infrastructure operations with the strategic goals of the organization. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader, technically strong, and committed to service excellence in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

SALARY: $84,500-$105,600
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Managing and supporting IT infrastructure systems including servers, storage, virtual environments, backups, and enterprise applications.
  • Leading a team of Systems Administrators responsible for infrastructure operations and support across multiple sites.
  • Monitoring the health, performance, and capacity of systems; ensuring availability and reliability of services critical to the organization.
  • Coordinating disaster recovery and backup operations using Veeam, ensuring system and data resilience.
  • Supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure AD (Entra ID) environments.
  • Collaborating with the cybersecurity team to implement security-conscious configurations and maintain compliance with HIPAA and internal policies.
  • Acting as an escalation point for advanced system issues, troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure problems.
  • Documenting procedures, configurations, and inventory of infrastructure components.
  • Participating in after-hours on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
  • Driving infrastructure projects to completion, including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support the goals of the department and organization.


MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and supervise the Systems Administrator team, including scheduling, mentoring, performance feedback, and skill development
  • Maintain and manage the organization's virtual environments using Hyper-V and clustered infrastructure.
  • Oversee enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms, primarily Veeam.
  • Maintain the integrity and availability of critical infrastructure services such as file/print servers, DNS, DHCP, remote access (RDS), and remote support tools.
  • Support and administer enterprise voice systems including Mitel VoIP and call center technologies.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and business departments to ensure infrastructure meets operational needs.
  • Develop and enforce operational standards and best practices related to systems administration, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to infrastructure design, performance, and security posture.
  • Ensure detailed documentation is maintained for all systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture by ensuring timely and effective IT support to staff across departments.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of systems administration experience in complex IT environments.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience supervising or leading technical infrastructure teams.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Qualifications
:

  • Advanced experience with Windows Server and Active Directory (including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Radius).
  • Proficiency managing Hyper-V environments, failover clusters, and SAN storage systems.
  • Strong experience with Veeam Backup & Replication, including backup testing, retention policies, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience supporting hybrid identity platforms such as Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Mitel phone systems, including VoIP, Call Center, and mobility services.
  • Working knowledge of systems monitoring and management tools such as PRTG, Rapid7, Microsoft Operations Manager, and LanSweeper.
  • Knowledge of enterprise tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, BitLocker.
  • Familiarity with supporting file and print services, remote desktop services (RDS), and remote support platforms (e.g., ScreenConnect).
  • Exposure to pharmacy and dental systems (e.g., PioneerRx, Dentrix, Dexis) is a plus.
  • Scripting and automation experience with PowerShell and related tools.
