Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Behavioral Health Technician to support clients receiving care in our Adult Inpatient Unit. In this role, you will help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment while supporting daily needs, treatment activities, and client stabilization. You will work closely with the treatment team to monitor client wellbeing, facilitate unit activities, and provide consistent documentation across shifts. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take appropriate measures to meet client daily basic needs for health and safety including but not limited to the following tasks:
    • Prepare and serve meals,
    • Conduct safety checks of the units,
    • Monitor clients according to the assigned levels of observation,
    • Provide transportation as directed by a supervisor,
    • Assist in maintaining a clean work environment,
    • Assist in maintaining sufficient inventory of food and non-food items, and
    • Other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
  • Complete all required electronic and paper charting, documentation and data entry of clients as outlined in the appropriate KMHS guidelines, manuals, policies and procedures.
  • Participate in clinical activities as directed by a supervisor including but not limited to:
  • Facilitate approved group activities
  • Conduct ongoing observation and assessment of client mental status during each shift,
  • Record client nutritional intake, sleep and vitals,
  • Run treatment groups on shift
  • Take referrals appropriately
  • Follow specific behavioral protocols for clients as directed by a supervisor, and other clinical activities as directed by a supervisor.
  • Complete all paperwork involved in providing direct client care including but not limited to:                                                            
    • Paperwork relating to admission and discharge,
    • Confidentiality,
    • Client rights,
    • Client inventories,
    • Tracking sheets, and
    • Other forms as needed
  • Attend all mandatory trainings on time and as scheduled.
  • Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food handler’s permit, counselor licenses, etc.).

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: 1 year (customer service, social services, or behavioral health)

Valid Washington Food Handler card. (Can be obtained after hire)

 

LICENSURE: Eligible for an Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
