Purpose of the Role

 

Reporting to the General Manager of Logistics, the Financial Controller will have full responsibility for robust financial reporting and control, along with leading and developing a team that will deliver quality finance data. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dynamic finance team, providing financial and commercial support to the business.  The role will include the opportunity to gain experience in managing the various financial aspects of the business, as well as providing commercial and analytical support to the management of the business on the key workstreams required to grow the business.   This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a team and to receive excellent experience in all aspects of the finance function in a plc environment.

Specific responsibilities will include:
 

• Responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts and reports within defined timelines.
• Responsibility for year-end financial reporting and liaison with external audit.
• Preparation of annual budget and financial forecasts for the business.
• Working in partnership with the senior management team to support the business in achieving its profit and growth targets.
• Provision of KPI’s for the business including full customer profitability and warehouse statistics to support decision making for the business.
• To ensure all Divisional/Group reporting timetables are met, and accounting procedures and controls are maintained
• Monitoring working capital and pursuing improvement initiatives.
• Management of accounts payable & accounts receivable functions (team of 4).
• Working with the rest of the financial team to ensure the highest standards of internal controls and financial support services to the business.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements are met for the business (Corporation Tax/ Vat / Insurance requirements etc.
• Liaising with internal audit for queries/issues relevant to the business.
• Participation in various projects on an ad hoc basis.

 

 

Qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated qualified ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) with at least two years’ PQE. Knowledge of the healthcare/logistics industry is not essential but would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

 

• Excellent analytical and numeric skills including advanced proficiency in excel.
• Attention to detail to detail and an eye for opportunity in challenging costs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the role will involve dealing with all levels of the business.
• Keen commercial acumen with desire to contribute to multi-disciplinary management team.
• The ability to lead the finance function with limited supervision and earn respect of senior line managers.
• Self-motivated and driven with a good understanding of business finance requirements.
• Previous experience working with SAP would be advantageous.
• Experience in a PLC/Group environment would be advantageous.
