About the Role

We are on the hunt for a motivated Backend Engineer Intern to expand our robust backend engineering team. The ideal candidate is adept at server-side engineering and is passionate about building systems that are reliable, maintainable, and scalable. You should be genuinely enthusiastic about technology, backend development, and innovating in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to an Engineering Manager, your responsibility will be to tackle complex backend-related challenges. You will empower our product and engineering teams by contributing to the development of high-performance backend systems and APIs. The solutions you help to build will have a direct impact on improving our operations and the reliability of our product.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement scalable and reliable backend systems.
• Develop and optimize server-side applications for integration with front-end platforms.
• Contribute to the creation of microservices using technologies like Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
• Engage in the automation of backend processes and improve system reliability and performance.
• Write efficient APIs and backend services using RESTful conventions.
• Quickly grasp our business model and tech infrastructure, sharing knowledge proactively with the team.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience with backend-focused programming languages: Java, Python, Node.js, etc.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API development.
• Practical experience with SQL.
• Initiative and the ability to make informed decisions promptly.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deliver in a competitive environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Have

• Experience with creating solutions that support front-end platforms, especially in a microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud services, particularly AWS, and their backend services such as EC2, RDS, Lambda, and API Gateway.

Hourly pay rate: $40.00

Glassdoor Internship Program

• 12 week virtual program where you'll manage projects and tasks, participate in engaging virtual events, and learn valuable skills!
• Full-time program (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week).
• Fully remote: work almost anywhere within the United States.
• Fully paid program and paid company holidays.
