Job Description

The National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety (NCHBHS) in the Early Childhood Portfolio within the U.S. Division has an opening for a part-time Medial Advisor (Distinguished Scholar) reporting to the Center’s Co-Principal Investigator/Co-Director. This position is anticpated to work 16 to 20 hours per week.

The NCHBHS is one of four Head Start national centers in the training and technical assistance (TTA) system of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Head Start (OHS). The Center provides research-informed TTA that reflects current evidence and promotes best practices to strengthen professional development outcomes for staff and improve the health, behavioral health, and safety of children and families enrolled in Head Start and/or Early Head Start (HS/EHS) programs.

You will:

  • Serve as medical advisor for the NCHBHS
  • Lead the NCHBHS Health Expert Workgroup
  • Support the Office of Head Start Health and Safety Workgroup
  • Provide staff support to the Chairperson of the NCHBHS Advisory Committee in planning and facilitating meetings
  • May exercise leadership and advanced expertise in qualitative &/or quantitative research methods

Qualifications

Education: 

  • MD, DO, or PhD in related health and/or public health-related field

Skills & Experience:

  • 12+ years related experience, including 8+ years prior project management or program development experience, plus expert skills in research-related tools and technology
  • Publication record
  • Proven success in business development
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience: 

  • Current medical license in at least one jurisdiction in the United States preferred
  • Experience in pediatric care preferred

This position offers an anticipated full-time equivalent annual base salary range of approximately $132,000 to $183,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
