Sr. Business Director

As a Senior Business Director at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. This role will lead a team responsible for creating and implementing strategies for Capital One's data ecosystem. To be successful in this role, the Senior Business Director will need to partner closely with Capital One's Chief Data Officer and executives across Capital One to develop and drive foundational ecosystem building blocks such as standardized measurements and data fluency. This team will influence business intent, risk controls, training and development, and ultimately the creation of a strong central Enterprise approach to building our data ecosystem. It's an amazing opportunity to work broadly across the organization, partnering closely with Product, Tech, and Design communities.

An ideal candidate will have a background with experience developing and implementing strategy and leading a high performing analytics team in roles that partners horizontally across the organization. 

General Responsibilities:  

• Strategic leadership:  Develop business strategies that will drive growth and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands 

• Leadership:  Will manage and develop multiple associates; coaching and mentoring with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.

• Product:  Develop and implement product strategies for various Data products and platforms

• Risk:  Drive step-change improvements in controls by connecting policy, analytics, and product recommendations 

• Execution:  Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements, and work with Product, Tech, and Design teams to execute against the strategy. Will oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.

• Partnership:  Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including:  Product, Tech, Design, Risk, Legal, Finance, and others to deliver effectively.

• Strategic analytics: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation with decisions based on rigorous analytics.

• Strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity: The ideal candidate will be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, audacious, yet responsible approach to business 

• Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results.

• Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communications, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

• Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. The ideal candidate will be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.

• Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, and dynamic environment

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis

At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis

At least 2 years of experience in people management

At least 2 years of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree

5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

3+ years of experience in people management

3+ years of experience in product development

3+ years of experience in financial modeling

3+ years of experience in economic forecasting

3+ years of experience in project management
