Director, Engineering Operations

Zelis is seeking to hire a Director, Engineering Operations who will play a pivotal role in aligning engineering operations with the company’s strategic business objectives. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in operational excellence, process integration, and strategic initiative execution.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving innovation, fostering continuous improvement, and managing budgets effectively. The new leader will report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), oversee a team of ~2, and may be based out of Boston MA, Morristown NJ, or St. Petersburg FL.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee day-to-day operations of engineering teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

• Develop and refine processes to optimize operational efficiency, focusing on scalability and agility.

• Integrate processes and technology to streamline operations and reduce redundancies.

• Monitor and report on KPIs related to engineering operations, identifying areas for improvement.

• Lead initiatives to optimize resource allocation and project prioritization.

• Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.

• Support the development and implementation of training programs to enhance staff skills and capabilities.

• Track, analyze, and report technology performance, identifying areas of risk and opportunity.

• Craft and deliver executive presentations, reports, and updates for senior executives.

• Summarize complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and publish progress updates.

• Coordinate and lead planning sessions with the Price Optimization Tech SLT.

• Ensure relevant KPIs and strategic messaging for effective engagement with stakeholders.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within engineering teams, implementing best practices and new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.

• Align engineering operations with business strategies and objectives, ensuring technology initiatives support company growth and market position, in collaboration with the CTO.

• Define and execute key strategic initiatives, translating business goals into actionable plans, in collaboration with the CTO.

• Provide leadership in operational strategy sessions, ensuring alignment with the company's vision.

• Oversee the engineering department's budget, ensuring strategic resource allocation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in engineering operations.

• 5+ years in a senior leadership role within technology teams, including those that support in-house shared services or product development, enterprise platforms like Salesforce, and infrastructure

• Proven track record of aligning engineering operations with business strategies.

• Strong background in process development, operational efficiency, and technology integration.

• Expertise in managing budgets and strategically allocating resources.

• Experience in fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

• Excellent leadership, visual presentation creation capabilities, communication skills.

• Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in project management and process optimization.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience in change management and organizational transformation

• Experience in the healthcare technology industry.

• Strong project, program implementation, and management skills

• Experience building process and organization capability with scale, including recruiting, hiring, and optimizing a high-performing team.
