The Arizona Game and Fish Department manages fish and wildlife in Arizona and under the authority of the Arizona Game and Fish Commission, creates and implements scientific methods and regulations to effectively manage fish and wildlife habitat via conservation, enforcement, hunting, fishing, watercraft and off-highway vehicle recreation, and shooting sports. Job Summary:

This position resides in the Human Resources Branch and reports directly to the Human Resources Deputy Assistant Director. The Department’s workforce consists of approximately 623 employees. The individual in this position will provide oversight over the Operations, Benefits, and Recruitment sections, as well as provide employee relations and operational support on various Human Resources actions and initiatives in support of the Department and its employees.

Job Duties:

• Under the direction of the Human Resources Deputy Assistant Director, this position is responsible for providing oversight and management for the direct day-to-day activities of the Operations and Recruitment sections within the Human Resources branch, providing guidance and oversight to the department and staff on various HR functions such as employee relations, onboarding, staffing and recruitment, HR data entry, benefits, personnel files, and new hire processing

• Provides consultation and guidance to management personnel and employees with regard to federal and state employment laws; Personnel Rules, statewide and agency HR policies and procedures, and other HR-related functions

• Manages classification action request process, exit interviews, PSPRS retirement, AZPerforms Performance Evaluation process and serves as a liaison with ADOA in these functional areas

• This position oversees the Department leave process for FMLA, worker’s compensation, sick, and other leave benefits. Manages complex leave of absence cases

• Conducts salary analyses and forecasting for promotions and new hires and oversees post-offer physical exam and drug screening processes

• Develop internal quality control measures to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completion of projects and deliverables

• Provides oversight on the Department’s Predictive Index program and participates on teams as an HR representative

• Administers the modified duty program, level 1 fingerprint clearance program, and the interactive ADA process

• Manages and coaches a team, providing guidance and instruction to ensure accurate deliverables

• Provides assistance in other HR areas such as operations, classification, and employee relations

• Conducts benchmarking with other government entities to identify best practices

• Assists with the development and analyses of HR-related statistical tracking

• Updates and writes HR-related policies, processes, and procedures

• Ensure standard work is developed and updated regularly
