The Advanced Products Center (APC) Manufacturing Engineering organization is seeking a Thick and Thin Film Process Engineering Section Manager to lead a team of skilled Process Engineers. The Section Manager will collaborate with APC Process Engineering Leads and Factory Managers to drive execution, set goals, and implement improvement strategies. This role focuses on developing technical talent and applying engineering practices throughout the manufacturing lifecycle to deliver top-tier solutions to our customers.

Thick and Thin Film Process Engineers, as part of an integrated product team, work closely with design, process, and test teams. They maintain process systems, evaluate daily yields, resolve production issues, and provide operator training. Their efforts ensure timely product deliveries and seamless system integration. The Section Manager will support these engineers, fostering collaboration and efficiency to uphold production quality and performance.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas, ensuring close interaction with the production process and immediate attention to any arising issues.

What You Will Do

• Supervise and lead a team of 8-10 Thick and Thin Film Process Engineers, ensuring effective teamwork.

• Align with factory and program needs, resolve issues, and adopt industry-standard thick and thin film process solutions.

• Set and communicate meaningful, measurable goals related to thick and thin film processes.

• Conduct performance reviews, support hiring goals, and lead onboarding focused on thick and thin film skills.

• Spend time in factory areas to support manufacturing activities and address issues promptly.

• Travel to other facilities, suppliers, and conferences to stay updated on thick and thin film advancements.

• Oversee the development and optimization of thick and thin film deposition processes, supporting manufacturing and quality assurance.

• Guide the formulation of methods to resolve manufacturing issues and drive continuous improvement.

• Monitor manufacturing data to identify and resolve defect trends in thick and thin film coatings.

• Implement process changes, verifying performance and updating requirements and specifications.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 10 years of relevant experience. 

• 10+ years of prior leadership experience.

• Demonstrated experience in mentoring and providing career development direction for staff engineers, as well as coordinating staffing needs and skills to meet demand.

• Strong ability to promote and instill a solid problem-solving framework in team members, fostering critical thinking and independent resolution of issues.
