JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend is seeking a creative, organized, and student-focused Part-Time Staff Assistant to support communications, student engagement, outreach initiatives, and daily administrative operations.
This is an in-person position working up to 20 hours per week and serving as a key point of contact for prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a collaborative environment and creating a welcoming, supportive experience for members of the campus community. This role will assist with social media content creation, digital marketing, event promotion, and departmental communications while providing administrative support for recruitment, outreach, and campus engagement activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Creating social media content, graphics, flyers, and videos using Canva and other platforms
- Monitoring social media trends and supporting marketing campaigns
- Collaborating with student clubs and organizations to promote events and increase engagement
- Assisting with newsletters, communications, and mailing campaigns
- Supporting Open Houses, Preview Days, Business Days, and other campus events
- Coordinating meetings, maintaining records, and updating departmental resources
- Managing office communications, including the main phone line
- Tracking inventory, supplies, and outreach materials
- Providing administrative support to committees and outreach initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with social media management, marketing, communications, or administrative support
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva; Adobe Creative Suite experience is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
