What you'll do

Docusign is seeking a Director of Engineering, Commerce Frontend Platform to join our Product Led Growth team within the Growth vertical. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing key frontend initiatives for PLG engineering. You will help build user-facing products globally using React, Node.js, and Next.js. You will manage strategic programs encompassing infrastructure and automation, as well as micro frontend integration across applications.

To excel in this role, you will need an excellent understanding of front-end technologies, including React, Node.js, Next.js, and frontend platform architectures (e.g., SSR, SSG, Next.js, MFEs). The ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader who is strategic in both technical and product decision-making, relentless in execution, and passionate about building products and capabilities that foster a culture of experimentation and data-driven product development. You will build a team of leaders who contribute to the strategic vision of our digital properties. You believe that building great things starts with building a diverse team.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering.

 

Responsibility

  • Offer strong technical guidance and mentorship to the team and partner engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence

  • Partner with product management to define and articulate the team's vision, aligning with overall business objectives

  • Develop and execute comprehensive team plans, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables

  • Guide projects from initial concept and design through successful implementation, ensuring alignment with strategic goals

  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and coach top engineering talent, fostering a healthy and inclusive team environment

  • Collaborate effectively with product management, business stakeholders, UI/UX designers, and other engineering teams to achieve shared goals

  • Build and implement website experimentation strategies to drive data-driven improvements

  • Define and implement robust testing processes and deployment strategies to ensure high-quality and reliable releases

  • Ensure adherence to best practices in SEO, responsiveness, performance, and accessibility

Job Designation

Hybrid: Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)

What you bring

Basic

  • 8+ years of experience as a frontend developer working on user-facing applications with robust error handling
  • 15+ years of experience in software development and building user-facing web applications
  • 5+ years of people management experience, including hiring, training, and team development
  • Experience building products from the ground up
  • Experience managing multiple teams and delivering large-scale front-end applications
  • Proficiency in React, Node.js, and Next.js, with the ability to delve into complex system design and implementation as needed
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and experience with agile/scrum
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a bias to action and passion for delivering high-quality data solutions
  • Attention to detail and quality with excellent problem solving and communication skills
