Leidos National Security Sector is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support a large enterprise IT program for an Intelligence Community client. This is an exciting opportunity to support a mission-enabling team in a fast-paced environment which requires a candidate who is willing to jump in and fully engage on day one.
Our client designs, develops, tests, integrates and deploys solutions for critical needs. The current solution is at the end of life stage, therefore new and innovative solutions need to be developed and incorporated to successfully meet the user needs. The client’s goal is design and deliver an enterprise-level system with a modular, segmented architecture that can support both large scale and small scale solutions in order to meet the needs across a broad range of applicable use cases. In order to support the technical needs, the client requires Information Technology (IT) activities to achieve the goal of designing, developing, testing, integrating and deploying the solutions.

In this role you will:
- Be a key contributor in the final design, stand up, and continual monitoring of the security system architecture and performance.
- Serve as the Cyber Engineer Subject Matter Expert to the Engineering team as they design, develop and deploy the new networks.
- Review and recommend security architecture, tools, and processes to include standing up security tools and capabilities for the new networks.
- Provide technical recommendations to improve cyber defense
- Review the latest alerts to assess relevancy and urgency
- Work with project team to provide a cyber-defense capability
- Analyze the continual vulnerability scans to make recommendations to the Network Engineering team on future changes and improvements.
- Run vulnerability scans, create and review vulnerability assessment reports, analyze cyber defense issues to help stand up the infrastructure and how the tools will work within it.
- Analyze relevant event data for potential security breaches or indicators, and provide insight into the latest security threats and countermeasures
- Produce security incident reports, assist in coordinating activities during security incidents, and coordinate with the network team to ensure all security systems are operational and current such as patching,
- Interact with members of the technical team to understand the current system, subsystems, and component specifications and be able to use experience to recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.
Required Security Clearance:
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Master’s and 15+ years of relevant experience. Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience providing security architecture and engineering recommendations
- Demonstrated experience monitoring networks and making recommendations on future changes and improvements.
- Demonstrated experience with Windows operating system security.
- Demonstrated experience in Linux operating system security.
- Demonstrated experience with both CISCO and Juniper network devices.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing network security issues.
- Demonstrated experience using network defense monitoring tools and systems.
- Demonstrated experience with security technologies.
- Demonstrated experience with establishing network security best practices
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Demonstrated Experience as a Crypto Custodian.
- Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
- Government Security Engineer Certification (GSEC) certification.
