About UT Austin - Dolph Briscoe Center for American History - As a leading history research center, we collect, preserve, and make available documentary and material culture evidence encompassing key themes in Texas and U.S. history. Researchers, students, and the public use our collections for a wide range of academic, professional, and personal uses. Our collections also inspire our own projects, including books, exhibits, programs, films, and educational materials. The Dolph Briscoe Center for American History is an organized research unit and public service component of The University of Texas at Austin.  

 

Purpose 

Student assistants needed for work any time Tuesdays and/or Wednesday/Thursday morning only in a closed-stacks, secure library and archives environment.   Work study and non-work study students welcome to apply.  When applying, in the My Experience section when asked to upload your resume, please upload not only your resume but also a letter of interest and your Fall 2025 class schedule. **Your application cannot be considered without all required materials. 

Responsibilities 

  • Duties include retrieving and shelving materials in a wide variety of formats; 

  • circulation of materials stored offsite; maintaining vertical files articles; filing; data entry; 

  • special archival and library projects and other duties as assigned.   

 

Required Qualifications 

  • Must be able to work during the fall semester.       

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • If schedule and availability permits, opportunity for employment may continue semester-by-semester. 

 

Salary Range 

  • $12.00 per hour 

 

Working Conditions 

  • May work around standard office conditions  

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation  

  • Use of manual dexterity  

  • Climbing of ladders  

  • Lifting and moving up to 50lbs  

  • Will be exposed to book dust and book mold  

 

Work Shift 

  • Work between 5 and 19 hours per week (max 19 hours per week). Hours scheduled on a semester-by-semester basis depending on class schedule. Currently any time Tuesdays and/or Wednesday/Thursday morning only are needed.
