Description

 

This is a benefited part-time position (40 hours every two weeks) working 10-hour day shifts, specifically covering Thursdays and Fridays, generally from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Depending on department needs, shift start times may vary. There is potential to float between both Employee Care Clinic locations in La Jolla (Poole Building) and Hillcrest (Scripps 550 Building at Mercy Hospital). No weekends or evenings are required. This position requires performing both front office and back office Medical Assistant duties, including clerical and clinical responsibilities.

Your job duties:

  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
  • Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the provider's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • at least six months of experience working as a Medical Assistant
  • Occupational Health/W
