Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced software development manager to forge new ground in the Broadcom Mainframe Software DevOps space.  Specifically searching for a seasoned leader who can get their hands around the entirety of the Mainframe Software portfolio (develop, test, maintain and deploy) with the intent to drive a new, seamless experience of product integration; through working with and influencing multiple products and development organizations. 

The selected candidate will spend their time driving product engineering excellence and interacting directly with global customers to validate requirements and ensure timely product delivery timelines are executed with precision.  Additionally, it is expected you can work alongside a very talented product management and architecture team to ensure selected product features will meet stated (or implied) customer demand. 

It is expected you are an avid practitioner of agile methodology and can be a highly visible leader; including personal participation with on-site customer visits for proof-of-concept software engagements that may occur anywhere on the globe.  

The ideal candidate will be deeply mainframe knowledgeable and be able to skillfully navigate a large corporate environment.  Additionally, knowledge of the most recent pipeline tooling (Jenkins, Github, etc) is a must.

Your ability to adapt with changing priorities is an important strength.  The individual and team goal will be to maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

***Note – This is an in-office position (5 days/week) located in Durham, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of truly world-class software development engineers

• Ability to understand customer needs to design and develop appropriate ‘outside-in’ validation points

• Actively support and contribute to end of iteration demos

• Mentor, train, develop and serve as a knowledge resource for less experienced Software Engineers

• Interact and navigate a large corporate culture; including working alongside skilled product management and software architects

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is preferred

• Exposure to COBOL, C and at least one script language JavaScript/TypeScript, Python 

• Minimum of 12 years of overall experience of which a minimum of 3 years is in management.

• Experience in Agile Development

• Familiarity with VSCode development environment

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub and unit testing 

 Recommended/Useful Skills:  

·   Knowledge and experience with the Mainframe environment (ISPF, CICS, Db2, IMS, IDMS)

·   Knowledge of Source Code Control Systems such as Endevor and Github

·   Familiarity with any formal project tracking toolset

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $127,000 - $203,000
