About the role
Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for recommending, directing, and assisting with the creation, implementation and operation of scalable and secure architecture and practices with which to enable our data platform solutions and services. This role involves creating roadmaps, coaching and supporting domain specific architects and advancing patterns and practices in their adherence to sound architecture that complies with both industry best practices as well as a variety of regulatory requirements across our Ingestion, Data Lake, & Data Warehouse services.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
In this role you will:
- Analyze, design and develop unifying roadmaps, design patterns, and implementation priorities across the ingestion, lake and warehouse services
- Mentor and support the platforms specific architects, engineers, and service owners
- Identify gaps in and advance service compliance with data and security regulations like CMMC, DFARS, ITAR, NIST 800-171).
- Identify gaps in and advance service process maturity in accordance with ITIL service management principals, such as Change Management, Problem Management, Capacity and Performance management.
- Participates in the Data Governance Council, United Technology Council, and the Customer Advisory Board regular meeting cadences.
- Leads the research and evaluation of emerging data technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support actives.
- Assist with monitoring, tracking and forecasting of cloud costs across services
- Participate and assist with after-hours and holiday operational support.
- Act as a bridge between the Ingestion, Data Lake, & Data warehouse Service Teams and the Data Automation, Data Analytics, & BI/Viz Service Teams; driving consistency in approach where applicable & always fostering partnership.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years in databases, data space, AWS Redshift, & data ingestion and minimum of 4 years of experience on AWS or equivalent cloud technologies

Desired Characteristics:
Technical:
- Expertise in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts
- Proficiency in data storage technologies: relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes, and cloud storage services
- Experience with big data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, etc
- Experienced with deploying solutions at scale and building reliable data services.
- Understands cloud and data security principles like access management, encryption, and least-privilege design practice
- Experience with designing and implementing security policies in AWS (IAM, resource policies, roles)
- Experience with the concept of technical tradeoffs - including cost, availability, and performance
- Proven experience in leading and mentoring teams
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline
