Your Role:
This position will support several Corporate Risk & Insurance (CRI) programs. The role supports numerous internal business partners (finance & accounting, manufacturing, tax, legal, HR, privacy, sales force operations, among others). It also influences and directs several external business partners in the placement, brokering, and management of the corporate insurance programs. The role is responsible for setting direction and challenging our brokers, business partners and vendors to provide best in class service, risk management benchmarking, and appropriate recognition and marketing of Elanco’s business risks.
In addition, this role is responsible for planning forecasting and reporting the results of the broader Corporate Treasury team. Lastly, the role is responsible for the accounting, monthly reconciliations, and forecasting/reporting in relation to Elanco’s captive insurance company (EIO).
This is a unique and challenging position encompassing leadership in finance, risk management, insurance, accounting, and other activities. The role is recognized globally as Elanco’s expert in certain areas of risk management and insurance.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Support corporate insurance programs using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive performance. Activities will include benchmarking insurance programs qualitatively and quantitatively, identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve coverage, develop and maintain risk management policies and procedures, procuring insurance via use of third-party insurance brokers and consultants, communicating coverage to relevant parties, troubleshooting and resolving issues from internal business partners and external entities, managing and negotiating successful claims resolution, among others. 2. Provide financial and insurance support to internal and external entities for program renewals, claims management and other risk identification/mitigation activities throughout the year.
3. Accounting Leadership
- Manage all accounting activities for CRI
- Provide accounting support for Treasury’s cash management activities
4. Controllership
- Spearhead Treasury and EIO’s forecasting cycles and submissions
- Manage budget and report actuals to CRI Sr. Director and Treasurer
- Lead communication of program renewals and premium payment approvals for all affiliates
5. Innovation
- Identify inefficiencies/bottlenecks in CRI activities
- Work with internal/external partners to create solutions to inefficiencies (Excel models, new workflows, etc.)
- Automate essential tasks to ensure focus on increased maturity of Elanco’s RM department
What you need to succeed (minimum requirements):
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Accounting or Risk Management preferred)
- Required Experience: SAP skills relating to financial activities. Adaptability to handle a steep learning curve involving the various risk management techniques and related accounting and financial implications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to clearly communicate with peers and leadership.
- Ability to handle multiple initiatives at the same time
- Strong problem-solving skills are essential
