The Opportunity
This role will be with the Abbott Electrophysiology Division and work be located in Plymouth, MN. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
The New Product Introduction (NPI) Sourcing Manager within Electrophysiology is responsible for the development and execution sourcing strategy for design and development phases of new product launches. This role will support and influence internal/external stakeholders to ensure engagement, alignment, and business readiness to drive launch of new products from idea to commercialization with emphasis on quality, sustainability, supply chain risk, total cost of ownership, and technological capability.
What You’ll Work On
Lead the supply chain aspects of new product development as the Supply Chain core team member on new product development programs
Collaborate with program managers, R&D, Design Assurance, Process Development, Quality, Regulatory and other functional groups throughout the NPI process.
Partner with Strategic Sourcing leader to select and manage relationships with major suppliers to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
Partners with R&D to negotiate Design & Development Agreements and Statements of Work and partners with Strategic Sourcing to align on terms leading to commercial Supply Agreements.
Coordinate and collaborate with tactical procurement to operationalize procurement activities through development builds and commercialization.
Leverages core business systems (SAP) and various software technologies to provide continuous improvements.
Drive initiatives supporting ‘design for supply’ and ‘design for manufacturing’ that optimize cost and service levels.
May supervise program related buyers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field
Progressively responsible experience in supply chain or manufacturing process engineering
Experience leading cross-functional projects and teams
Experience working in an ERP system such as SAP
Minimum 5 years’ experience working in Medical Device supply chain, manufacturing or design
Ability to travel approximately 5% - 20%, including internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Masters' degree
Experience negotiating technical agreements with suppliers
Medical device manufacturing process engineering
Medical device design
Experience with New Product Introduction within medical device or related industry
