Description
The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a temporary 11-month part-time, non-tenure visiting appointment faculty position at the Visiting Research Associate Professor level. Anticipated start date Spring 2026.
The School is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished individual to advance its mission of integrating engineering innovation with medical education and research. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding translational research and mentoring the next generation of physicianeers
EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicine’s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the, Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate “physicianeers,” a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health care’s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nation’s only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houston’s Texas Medical Center (TMC).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead a robust translational research program focused on cell-based therapies
- Secure significant extramural funding to support research initiatives
- Contribute to the growth and development of biomedical research within the School of Engineering Medicine
- Mentor and train medical students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and other trainees
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to advance innovation at the intersection of engineering and medicine
Qualifications
Required:
- Medical doctoral Degree (MD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree with fellowship training in Hematology Oncology or related field
