Summary / Purpose
Quality Supervisor 1 is responsible for the daily management of the Quality Lab Technicians in the QA Department. Plans, coordinates, and directs, quality control and quality assurance programs within the plant location, designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards by performing duties personally or through subordinate employees. Provides Quality education, performance measurements, and quality improvement directions and is responsible for supporting metrics. Support and participate in ISO 9000 Quality Management System and oversight over all document control functions. Support a culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Following all safety rules and procedures.
- Works closely with local management and production personnel to achieve the “My Goal is Zero Accidents” objective.
- Provide timely feedback to Manufacturing Operations and Process Engineering on problems identified for actions to be taken to address quality issues immediately*
- Responsible for the issuance of all documented Internal Quality Alerts, Internal Rejects, and 8D and provides essential monitoring to ensure Corrective Action and Preventative Action or Root Cause Corrective Action are implemented and effective*
- Support and participate in the ISO 9000 Quality Management System and serves as the Document Control Coordinator
- Understanding of statistical analysis and how it relates to manufactured goods*
- Experience with researching production records for internal rejections to create reports for countermeasures*
- Reading specifications and tolerances along with general blueprint reading
- Ability to make decisions or come to a consensus decision with peers based upon business risk reduction*
- Understanding of on-line data acquisition from Laser-Mic system. Understand and implementation of programing of Laser-Mic system.
- Data Mining and high level Excel based understanding of Quality Reporting and Investigation. Utilize the company systems and PC software to develop, maintain and generate effective reporting systems*
- Oversight knowledge of performing calibrations and laboratory testing; monitors for schedule adherence
- Ability to train others in ISO, GMP, and HACCP as it applies to site. Responsible for logging all GMP and HACCP records (water testing and pest control)
- Knowledge of proper packaging and labeling
- Ability to work unsupervised with limited direction
- Maintain strong channels of communication with customer service, production, and shipping, and facilitate any necessary follow-up to ensure smooth movement of goods*
- Participate in regular departmental planning meetings to design and maintain department effectiveness.
- Support Quality Manager in all aspects of Quality function
- Maintain a highly professional , positive attitude and demeanor

- Ensures Quality Department procures necessary items for functions through Purchasing Agent
- Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager and Plant Manager
Qualifications:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises the employees in the quality department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting in hiring and training, planning, assigning, and directing work: apprising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Education and/or Experience
- Previous experience as a Quality Technician, or ASQ Quality Related Certification, or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university. Previous Management experience will be reviewed upon an individual basis.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft office including a high level of experience with Microsoft Excel, Power-Point, Outlook, and general knowledge with Minitab.
- Previous Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Standard, Procedure and Documentation
- Knowledge of certification for maintenance or repair of (certification or calibration) equipment i.e.: micrometers and calipers
