Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Web Solutions team acts as an in-house application development team that services many verticals within Western Digital. The team provides stand-alone applications, as well as web applications and web services to support firmware development, continuous integration/continuous development, automated testing, reporting, and manufacturing. As a team member you will quickly become a subject-matter expert in one or more areas. You will work in small teams to deliver new solutions and features.
• The ideal candidate is a full-stack web developer with a proven track record of working and leading projects from cradle to grave. The candidate can work well in a group or independently with minimal guidance. The candidate can also interface well, both verbally and written, with team members, leadership, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• BS or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• 3+ years in C#, Java, or any object oriented programming language
• Experience working with relational databases, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle
• 3+ years of Javascript, HTML, and CSS experience
• Familiar with Agile software development practices
• Excellent communicator
• An excellent team player and works well with multiple teams
• Experience gathering requirements, prototyping, test, and releasing software

PREFFERED: 

• MS or higher in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• 5+ years in C#, Java, or any object oriented programming language
• Proficient working with relational databases, MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Oracle
• 5+ years of Javascript, HTML, and CSS experience
• Familiar with Agile software development practices
• Knowledge of Twitter Bootstrap, jQuery, Vue.js
• Server side knowledge: C#/ASP.NET

DESIRED TRAITS & SKILLS

• The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• The candidate will have experience in client-side development technologies including, but not limited to, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Knowledge of one or more frameworks such as Twitter Bootstrap, Bulma, and jQuery is a plus!
• Working knowledge of AngularJS, Angular, React, or Vue is also desirable.
• The candidate will also have knowledge of one or more server-side languages such as PHP, Java, or C#/ASP.NET.
• The candidate will also have a working knowledge of relational database systems, and experience working with MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle.
• The candidate must be comfortable working independently, as well as in a small team.
• The candidate must have experience with every stage of the software development lifecycle, and be capable of executing each stage to ultimately deliver a complete solution. This includes, but is not limited to, requirements gathering, prototyping, test, and release.
