Your Impact 

As the Senior Program Manager PMO you will serve as the head of the People Operations PMO. You will be responsible for establishing appropriate and effective program management infrastructure, governance, and practices for Axon’s People Ops (our HR Department) team projects and initiatives. This will be the first PMO within this department, so this person should be ready to roll up their sleeves, and build from the ground up as an individual contributor.

Your role will partner with HR leadership, and with project and program managers on the team, in the selection and execution of projects to align with department and organization strategic vision and objectives. You will lead all aspects of program management, guiding and training team members on critical aspects of a project management office. This person will also establish impactful standards for process and output quality.

Location: Remotely OR Hybrid from our Scottsdale or Seattle Offices
Reports to: Chief of Staff, People Ops

What You’ll do

  • Provide vision and leadership to project teams responsible for the delivery of HR projects that are often sophisticated, cross-organizational initiatives in support of strategic objectives. Ensure global and regional considerations are considered and incorporated in upfront and initial plans. Engage appropriate stakeholders. Ensure that all projects are managed within the company's project delivery framework and utilize company/industry-standard project management methodologies and tools. Generate and implement new concepts, project processes, services, or methods.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the HR Leadership Team on identifying strategic opportunities, initiating projects, influencing project priority and project execution to align with the business strategy. Partner with HR colleagues to drive adoption of new HR processes, tools, and standards.
  • Work with partners to craft the use of tools and methodologies such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Visio, Jira, and PowerPoint. Lead to ensure that all policies and procedures are adopted and successful in the Project Management Office.
  • Develop and apply strong working relationships to ensure detailed and effective management of assigned project initiative(s). Work closely with HR leadership, business partners, finance, as appropriate, vendors, technology, and project management staff to develop the project agenda and ensure agreement/adoption of project objectives/deliverables by all affected. Provide thought leadership in areas of project management, business transformation, innovation, and change management.
  • Lead others, as an Axon creator (individual contributor). Provide effective people leadership through mentorship, feedback, and sound performance management practices. Act as champion for the team and intervene on matters that build roadblocks to individual or organizational success. Set department initiatives and performance goals. Accountable for leading project resources (who may not be direct reports) in a manner that ensures timely delivery on commitments/tasks in support of broader project deliverables.
  • Create a foundation for consistent project success through continued development and implementation of a strong project management discipline.
  • Maximize the responsiveness & adaptability of projects by implementing standardized best practices and disciplined approaches to identify, prioritize and successfully execute the portfolio of key HR initiatives that are aligned with Axon’s strategic goals & objectives.

Goals and Impact:

  • Define a standardized way of running projects and programs with the goal of increased awareness, transparency, and a stellar product at the end of all People Ops projects and programs.
  • Get the People Ops team streamlined on the same PM tool across the team, and own making sure that people are trained and held accountable to using this tool
