POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau’s Firearm Purchase Program, this position is responsible for the review and advanced analysis of criminal history records to determine eligibility for the purchase and possession of firearms as authorized by Florida Statute. This position is also responsible for training internal and external customers, critical review of transactions for discrepancies, and quality control of transaction evaluations. This independent work assists management in the coordination of assignments that are complex in nature and very broad in objective with the integration of diverse functions. The duties require independent planning of objectives and priorities, which may result in analysis and recommendation of changes in policies, rules and regulations. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) certification as required, and it is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within department databases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Reviewing, evaluating, and processing requests by phone and in the Firearm Eligibility System (FES) queue from licensed firearm dealers to screen potential buyer���s eligibility to purchase a firearm;
- Entering potential firearm buyer’s information received by the Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) line accurately into FES in accordance with Firearm Purchase Program (FPP) evaluator training manual;
- Evaluating requests by reviewing customer demographics in FES in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner and processing transactions in accordance with the FPP evaluator training manual;
- Evaluating requests by analyzing criminal justice information in FES in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner and processing transactions in accordance with the FPP evaluator training manual;
- Answering customer service line to provide assistance to firearm dealers and citizens in a professional, courteous, and calm manner at all times;
- Answering dealer line as needed and entering potential firearm buyer’s information accurately into FES received by the ACD line in accordance with FPP evaluator training manual;
- Accurately submitting transactions requiring research through Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow;
- Contacting local, state, and federal agencies by means of telephone or written correspondence to obtain complete information necessary to determine a firearm buyer’s eligibility; and
