About the role

The Program Coordinator I is responsible for providing administrative, operational and programmatic support services to an assigned program area. The Program Coordinator I will be knowledgeable about institutional and program policies and procedures and provides support to a large or complex program or to multiple smaller programs.  A Program is ongoing and while it may have a business cycle, will continue.  The Program provides a specific service or carries out specific activities as a separate entity or as a component program within a department but is not a department itself.

  • Assists in developing a sustainable pediatric environmental health program.  This task requires routine weekly communication to ensure team needs are met.  Monitors workflow for specific assigned projects and makes adjustments to ensure the timely completion of program activities.  Provides and/or arranges staff training as needed, if applicable.  Effective time management and ability to complete tasks independently is a priority.
  • Assists with research administration for pediatric environmental health projects.  Activities include required grant reporting, arranging team meetings, and communicating with partners and advisory members.
  • Assists in enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of PEH team activities.  Assists in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness; demonstrates continuous efforts to improve our support operations and systems, to streamline work processes of the program.  Routine input on how to streamline and enhance reporting, website, files and meeting preparation are critical components.
  • Takes on leadership role in outreach and education.  Works together with partners to effectively reach our region through outreach and education efforts.  Can serve as frontline communicator for outreach and education events.  Assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of seminars, conferences and workshops.  Recommends new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components.
  • Administers program procedures and systems.  Interpersonal relationships with colleagues both external (i.e. statewide and national networks) and internal is an important component of the job.  Ensures adequate staffing, space utilization, equipment and other resources are available to best support the provisions of services to meet project and team goals and objectives.  Ensures information is disseminated to staff regarding program and Mount Sinai's policies and procedures.

 

  • Bachelors Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the degree when the experiences are closely related to the duties of the job.  Master's degree is preferred.
  • None required, but 1-2 years administrative experience preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
