What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience.  New hires are typically brought into the organization between $109,134.00 - $137,000.00.

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position, you can expect to be in the office three days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

In this position you can expect to work on site at the Webb Municipal Building at least three days per week.

Who We Are & What You’ll Do

The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the city.  The DOF leads fiscal analysis and guidance, property assessments, budgeting, accounting functions, enforcement of fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the City’s debt portfolio and investment portfolio. The DOF commits to delivering these services through a financial structure that reflects the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.

About the Controller’s Office

The Office of the Controller keeps the City's ledgers and books, manages payroll and accounts payable; establishes and enforces Citywide financial policies, procedures and internal controls; produces the financial reports including the annually audited financial statements of the City; and works with agencies to improve financial skills. The Controller's Office is seeking a Financial Manager to lead the Accounting Services team within our Financial Services Division.  The Accounting Services team provides financial management and accounting services to 17 City agencies using a centralized team.  In this role, you will be challenged as an experienced financial professional to manage financial shared services, to multiple City Departments and Agencies. This position oversees the daily operations of a team of professional and nonprofessional financial staff providing accounting, budget, and financial management support to multiple City agencies.  The work will be fluid, dynamic, and require the highest level of customer service for our clients.

Additionally, as the Financial Manager, you can expect to:

  • Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of the employee; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance

  • Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards

  • Monitor and direct daily operations to ensure policies and procedures are being followed

  • Ensure goals and objectives are met, services are being provided efficiently and effectively and take corrective action when needed.
