The Assistant Registrar oversees student information system security authorization and the maintenance of student records information. Key responsibilities include acting as the security liaison for USM by managing access requests to student record information; processing student record updates, such as University withdrawals, semester leaves, academic forgiveness, and Fresh Start processing; and leading critical support that the Office of Registration and Scheduling Services provides for the annual Commencement Ceremony. This position reports to the Senior Associate Registrar on the Portland campus, while working closely with a wide variety of positions throughout the University. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

The Office of Registration & Scheduling Services supports the instructional mission of the University by providing key services to students, faculty, academic and administrative departments, and to the public. Services include records management, course, classroom, and final exam scheduling, student registrations, grade processing, transcript issuance, ensuring FERPA compliance, recording such critical functions as academic honors, sanctions, dismissals, and much more.

This is a full-time position on the Portland campus, with a starting annual salary of $52,000.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a Registrar’s Office, Advising Office, Financial Aid Office or other closely aligned office in higher education.

Preferred Skills:

  • Progress toward or intent to pursue a Master’s Degree in higher education, educational administration, or information systems and three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education. 
  • Prior experience with demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment. Preference give
