The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:

In an inpatient setting, provides direct support to leadership and is accountable for daily operations. Participates in the management of human resources, career sculpting, mentoring, the development and evaluation of recruitment and retention strategies, and the monitoring of patient outcomes. Accountable for supporting standards of care and providing consultation and expertise in the delivery of patient care. Involved in activities at the service, nursing practice, and institutional level, and contributes to goal achievement through personal action, effective communication, and the facilitation of others. Participates in community and professional organizations, demonstrating commitment to the promotion of nursing's viability and future.

Full time position: D/E, weekend and administrative on call responsibilities 

The best candidate for this dynamic role has the ability to think on their feet, while helping meet the needs of this rapidly changing team. They will do so by supporting the team leadership in daily team operations including the following:

  • In collaboration with Close Observer staff and nursing, evaluates new requests for the Tele-sitter and bedside Close Observers
  • Round on staff and current patients to support and trouble shoot unit and patient needs.
  • Work with multiple unit charge nurses and Close Observer charge to evaluate appropriate interventions to achieve patient safety.
  • Cross train in scheduling and payroll policies and procedures.
  • Takes an active lead in recruitment (screening applications, setting up interviews, cross checking references, and working closely with Nursing Recruitment and HR to make hiring decisions).
  • Have a primary focus on onboarding and orientation processes, including coaching, developing learning modules, and documentation of progress.
  • Coach and mentor staff to achieve annual team and individual professional goals, including annual competencies and skills training.
  • Provide direct supervision in the absence of the manager to maintain team operations.

This position requires a BSN, and active New York licensure, 3-5 years nursing experience. Recent formal leadership experience preferred.
