Walpole Co-operative Bank is seeking a Vice President Residential Mortgage/Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer to effectively direct and manage mortgage function, including underwriting and secondary market sales. The Vice President Residential Mortgage/Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer will ensure efficient mortgage origination operations, and direct and implement the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs.
Vice President Residential Mortgage/CRA Officer Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5 to 7 years’ residential mortgage origination and underwriting experience
- 1 to 2 years’ supervisory or management experience
- Extensive knowledge of mortgage loan products, FHLMC underwriting guidelines, and federal and state regulations
- Working knowledge of Finastra Mortgagebot and DocMagic systems
- Excellent interaction and presentation skills
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- NMLS licensed and able to maintain and renew on an annual basis
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

Vice President Residential Mortgage/CRA Officer Job Responsibilities

- Hire, train, actively coach, cross train, appraise, and evaluate staff; ensure that staff is motivated and conversant in Bank products and procedures, banking regulations, and compliance rules
- Ensure all direct reports can effectively perform all essential job responsibilities and functions
- Direct and manage residential mortgage department; ensure loans are originated, processed, underwritten and closed in timely manner and that loan quality standards and compliance policies are met
- Ensure timely, efficient and profitable mortgage origination through selection of mortgage vendors and mortgage programs, management of mortgage operations and underwriting
- Actively generate residential loans through ongoing development of referral network, active business development calls and referral follow up
- Provide leadership in implementation of Community Reinvestment Act Program in conjunction with other Bank staff
- Participate in selected community or civic organizations, conduct seminars and education programs, including Financial Literacy at partner schools and First Time Home Buyers seminars
- Ensure all residential lending systems, software and service providers are compliant and up to date with all consumer regulations
- Ensure secondary market sales through effective financial analysis and selection of programs, timely program compliance and completion of loan packaging that meets investor requirements
- Update mortgage policy and procedures in compliance with laws and Bank policy; recommend changes to policy and procedures as needed
