Job Summary

Responsible for validating data collected through clinical documentation is sound, relevant, accurate, and reliable, while supporting the values and objectives of Memorial Hermann Health System. The Clinical Information Analyst assists clinicians with workflow and process analysis that align with our strategic plan, leveraging available resources, metrics, benchmarks; and system standards across the enterprise. Responsible for managing customer expectations and aligning their strategic initiatives with Solution Segments in ISD. Must be able to demonstrate working operational knowledge and technical skills necessary to analyze current processes and understand customer’s business strategies. Responsible for documenting process and workflow presenting them as educational materials. Demonstrates a commitment to the values of the corporation through active participation in the Partners in Caring, Customer Service, Six Sigma, and Continuous Quality Improvement programs. Typically reports to an IT Manager.

The Clinical Information Analyst supports all units and a small group of outpatient clinics by partnering with physicians, nurses, and clinical staff to optimize workflows within Epic and other clinical systems. This role investigates documentation discrepancies, supports forensic medical record reviews, conducts end-user training, develops educational materials, and assists with reporting, process improvement, and system adoption initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable presenting to clinical teams, analyzing workflows, and managing multiple priorities while participating in an on-call rotation that includes days, evenings, and weekends.

Because the position is based in the Texas Medical Center, it’s important that candidates understand the commuting expectations upfront. While free parking is available in remote lots with shuttle service, parking in the attached garages typically has an approximately two-year waitlist. Employees who prefer closer parking may choose to pay for their own parking in nearby garages. Candidates should be comfortable navigating TMC traffic and commuting logistics, as this is an important consideration for long-term success in the role.

Desired Skill Set

  • Clinical background or healthcare operations experience preferred

  • Experience supporting clinical information systems; Epic experience is a plus

  • Strong understanding of inpatient and outpatient clinical workflows

  • Ability to investigate documentation discrepancies, workflow issues, and system-related concerns

  • Comfortable training and presenting to physicians, nurses, and clinical staff

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (sorting, tables, basic reporting), Word, and PowerPoint

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • Adaptable to change and able to work effectively with diverse personalities

  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and commute to the Texas Medical Center site

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or clinically related field or at least one (1) year of equivalent industry experience in healthcare.

Licenses/Certifications:  (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Requires at least one (1) year of healthcare industry experience and/or implementation of large and complex information Systems in a Health Care environment.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of IT, Microsoft Office tools, knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.

  • Understanding of effective Customer Relationship Management Skills necessary for efficient problem resolution to maximize customer satisfaction.
