Supervisor Health Information Management - Medical Management

Under the direction of the Manager, Authorizations and HIM, the Supervisor of Authorizations and HIM responsibilities include, but are not limited to serving as a representative for the medical group in working harmoniously with the HMO's / PPO's, patients, and other healthcare providers. In addition, this position is responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, and staff development. Supervises daily operation of the Health Information Management record processing departments. Ensures the quality of the patient's medical record is accurate and properly entered into the electronic health record system. Oversees document imaging/scanning, document indexing and quality assurance of the electronic record while maintaining patient privacy and security. Provides a high level of customer service in coordinating patient information through all caregivers, clinical departments, and billing departments according to the organization's policy and procedure.

Required qualifications:
- National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association upon hire or
- National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association upon hire
- Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
- 1 year of Supervisor experience.
- Authorizations processes and guidelines experience with various medical insurances.
- Experience with Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, and an email system.
- CPT and ICD-10 coding experience.
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) upon hire.
- 3 years of Authorizations experience. 4 years preferred.
- 2 years of Supervisor experience.
