Overview:
The Adjunct Faculty - Genetic Counseling Standardized Patient Rotation Supervisor for the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetics Counseling (MSGC) program, within the School of Health Sciences, will be responsible for supervising multiple students completing the Standardized Patient Rotation fieldwork experience as part of the GENE 6802-6805 course series. We seek a dynamic individual dedicated to innovative and effective genetic counseling experiential education to prepare graduates to be leaders in the rapidly evolving field of human genetics/genomics.

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited program; certification in Genetic Counseling from the ABGC; at least one years’ experience in clinical genetics or genomics to meet the ACGC requirements for supervision of participatory (core) cases.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential function of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions may be performed, with or without, reasonable accommodations, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Supervise and mentor MSGC students completing the Standardized Patient rotation (24 hours/week student commitment) in the GENE 6802-6805 Genetic Counseling Fieldwork series.
- Develop and curate Standardized Patient Encounter (SPE) exercises for the KGI SPE library
- Review and approve participatory (core) cases logged by students
- Review the student’s Goals and Self-Evaluation at the beginning and end of each rotation and complete their mid-rotation and final rotation evaluations
- Coordinate with the MSGC ADEE for establishing rotation learning objectives and structure, analyzing outcomes, and integration of student and supervisor feedback.
