The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Fall Protection Product Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Providing Technical Leadership and Product Engineering support to an assigned core product portfolio and maintaining global design control for assigned products.
• Leading and overseeing product design change management related to product and quality improvements, supplier changes, regulatory requirements, and cost reduction.
• Driving continuous improvement mindset by using a multitude of methodologies that include Project Management, PPU, Six Sigma, and DOE/statistical analysis.
• Establishing or verifying product and component specifications through the analysis of test data, understanding of regulatory requirements, and review of customer feedback.
• Providing technical support to customers, distributors, and internal team members, including troubleshooting, answering technical questions, and providing guidance on product use and maintenance.
• Preparing clear and concise technical documentation for internal and external use.
• Serving as an effective team leader, team member, and collaborator, embracing diversity and multi-cultural global collaboration, and promoting working relationships across geographies.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related Science or Engineering field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Product Engineering, Product Design, Product Development, or Durable Goods Manufacturing/Production experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop and implement innovative solutions.
• Ability to effectively communicate information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong Project Management skills.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably Creo and AutoCAD
• Desire to develop an understanding of Fall Protection Regulations and Industry Standards
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.

Work location:

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Red Wing at least 3-4 days per week)
• Primary Work Location: 3M Red Wing, Minnesota

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
