HPC Data Center Sr. Manager

 

Reports To
HPC Data Center Director

 

The Job

Provides direct supervision to professional individual contributors and/or skilled, support individual contributors.  Acts as a guide to site operations teams, vendors and contractors and may become actively involved, as required, to meet operational standards, project schedules and resolve problems.  Creates a culture of professionalism, operational excellence, and a place where people love to work and build a career.

 

Responsibilities

  • Overall management for the assigned data center, including all staff, performance and budgets.
  • Ensures the team is fulfilling responsibilities on time, safely, and effectively and projects are progressing, as expected.
  • Manage payroll, positioning, hire/fire, reviews, coaching and development.
  • Manages internal and external audit and audit controls assigned data center.
  • Owns and delivers operational budgets; implements resources to complete projects and maintenance activities.
  • Overall site capacity management including power utilization, customer requests, and expansion reviews.
  • Vendor contract management and oversight, including contract negotiations and pricing/quotations.
  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team as well as with co-workers/ teammates and leaders across the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience is required.
  • 7+ years of data center-related experience managing critical facilities operations required.
  • 3 years of management experience required.
  • Expert knowledge of critical facility equipment and their components including Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Unit (PDU), Static Transfer Switch (STS), Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC), Computer Room Air Handler unit (CRAH), etc.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and project management skills are required. 
  • Exceptional understanding of network, electrical, mechanical and building systems required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  

 

Travel

Occasional travel between data centers

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office, warehouse and data center environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, ladders, forklifts, and scissor lifts. While performing these duties the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments.  

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 20 pounds.  

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, onsite position. General hours and days of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. some nights and weekends may be required.
