About the role

The Assistant Dean of Student Affairs serves as both a resource and guide to faculty, staff, and students on osteopathic medical program. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs this person will assist in leadership to the Office of Student Services, Admissions, Educational Specialist and Advising.   

Job duties:

  • Develop and refine operating policies to achieve goals and objectives for admissions and educational affairs,
  • Create data-based reports for monitoring and evaluating the school’s success on key metrics to report to the accrediting agencies, including recruitment, enrollment, semester credit hours, degrees awarded, retention (of students, staff, and faculty), publications, and presentations,
  • Design supportive student services that will lead to student success and ensure that the academic integrity code is administered consistently throughout the school,
  • Collaborate with departments, programs, and partners, to assure the integrity, relevance, and value of academic degrees and certificates, ensuring continual assessment and development of programs;
  • Manage conflict resolutions processes for faculty and students,
  • Develop and refine policies to achieve educational activities for accommodations
  • Oversee tenure and promotion activities and annual evaluations;
  • Support and track the continual accreditation for osteopathic medical education

Qualifications: 

Education

  • Minimum master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred)

Experience

  • 10 years progressive management experience in admissions, student services, financial aid and/or marketing in higher education. Experience in Medical or Osteopathic medicine preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities –

  • Experience overseeing complex operations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with accommodations and educational success support, information technology, student services such as graduation and white coat ceremonies, alumni support are a few needed skills
  • A passion for and record of advancing justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
  • A record of facilitating successful collaborations within schools and at the university level
  • Experience with supervising and evaluating staff
  • Understanding title IX and investigation process
  • Working with financial aid to ensure students have information needed to progress
  • Commitment to student success
  • Experience with alumni engagement.

        Measures of Success:

    • Academic and Student affairs success in student support as evidenced by success in retention of students for the four years
    • Student policy review on a yearly basis
    • Contract review on a yearly basis for programmatic external agreements
    • Budget compliance
    • Creating a team that is engaged, and active with student success
    • Retaining staff for five or more years
