Job Description

Morning News NOW is looking for a Production Assistant who is willing to work overnight/early morning hours and thrive in a fast-paced, quickly changing and deadline-driven team environment. This position will work morning show hours, Monday – Friday 2am – 10am ET; and is represented by the NewsGuild-CWA.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Producers and other members of the show team to find and edit the best video, sound and graphics for assigned stories
  • Keep a constant eye on show rundowns to make sure video and graphics are in place, accurate and current
  • Partner with artists and producers to generate creative, thoughtful graphics for broadcast – presenting information in a way that boosts understanding
  • Pitch smart and engaging stories for daily and future segments that will resonate with our audience.
  • Help research and fact check stories with speed and accuracy
  • Check and double check your work
  • Collaborate with reporters, anchors and colleagues
  • Adhere to NBC News standards and practices

Qualifications

  • You’ve worked in broadcast, digital or cable, including internships, for 2+ years or have a degree in journalism/broadcast news
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • You are willing to work in New York, New York, Monday – Friday from 2a – 10a ET

  • You’ve got an interest and passion for journalism and are up on the latest news across multiple subject areas

  • You thrive working in a collaborative team environment
  • You pay attention to the details of everything you work on
  • You’re ready to jump in on projects as they come up

Additional Requirements:

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $29.08/hr
