About the College of Education

Under the leadership of Dean Charles R. Martinez, Jr., the College of Education is committed to preparing educators, researchers, and leaders to join us in responding to pressing challenges in education and health. We do this within three strategic impact areas: Advancing equitable opportunities and eliminating disparities in education and health, attending to place and context, and thriving through transitions.

We are consistently ranked among the top Colleges of Education at public Universities; this year we are ranked #4 among public colleges of education, and #6, overall by U.S, News and World Reports. We are home to five academic departments and 13 research and outreach centers that are focused on health, education, and sport. The college also houses school programs that address the educational needs of students across the PreK-12 system through UT Elementary School, UT University Charter School, and UT High School. We have more than 2,700 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students with a faculty of more than 250 members. Learn more about the college here: https://education.utexas.edu.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Dean as a member of his leadership team and working in close partnership with the Assistant Vice President for Development, Campus Partnerships and the staff in the University Development Office, the Chief Development Officer will play an essential leadership role in advancing overall fundraising for the College and, in doing so, position the College as an important and significant component of the recently launched “What Starts Here” capital Campaign at UT Austin.  To date, the college has raised nearly 98% of its twice upward-revised $180 million goal and has the potential to raise $200 million during the “What Starts Here” campaign that will conclude in August 2026.

The Chief Development Officer will lead in the development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising plan that optimizes the best of the College of Education’s resources, which include an outstanding faculty, committed alumni and a university development program that is well- resourced and on the rise by every measure. They will grow, develop and lead a team of development professionals to support and build the college’s fundraising goals.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional fundraiser and colleague, leading and furthering the growth of the College of Education’s development team through strategically growing and cultivating a portfolio of high net worth donors and state and national foundation partners. They will have a high level of emotional intelligence, will be a collaborative, steady, organized and experienced leader with demonstrated success closing seven-figure plus gifts. They will marshal the expertise and talents of the College of Education’s faculty, Advisory Council members, alumni and other donors and  volunteers to secure resources for the school’s top-ranked faculty, researchers, students, programs and centers.
