Senior Software Engineer - Hardware Abstraction Layer

Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can grow the flexibility, robustness, and scalability of our connections between hardware and low-level software for advanced robotics applications.

You will drive the design and implementation of software components that interface with sensors, power electronics, motion control, and safety systems to work reliably, safely, and in concert with modern software architectures to make robotic systems more accessible in relieving people from dirty, dull, or dangerous tasks.

• Drive down the complexity and risk involved in hardware integration with our software.
• Reduce the burden of integrating new hardware within our systems.
• Improve the reliability, safety, and performance of our systems.

Skills you will need to be successful

• 4-year degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5 years experience with software development for control systems, industrial automation, or embedded Linux systems.
• Professional experience building production-quality software and extensible APIs in C++.
• Excellent software debugging skills, especially involving low level software and hardware.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Skills that will differentiate your candidacy

• Extensive experience with control systems for robotics, fieldbus communication systems, real-time or embedded Linux systems, RTOSes.
• Demonstrable experience with robot programming (Fanuc, KUKA, UR, ABB) and PLC Programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff), and HMI Development.
• Experience with Bazel, gRPC, Protobuf, Kubernetes and microservices architecture..
• Deep knowledge of Linux internals and inter-process communication.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $156,800-$240,120 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
