Raytheon is a world leader in high altitude imaging sensors. As such, we in the Advanced Product Solutions department provide the United States Government and International Partners with remote sensing systems, for time critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Our ISR Information and Intelligence Engineering group develops algorithms and software for processing, optimizing, and creating intelligence products from these sensors.

Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Chief Systems Engineer to lead engineering teams in advancing state-of-the-art imaging technologies. This role involves working on cutting-edge electro-optical (EO) and infrared (IR) remote sensing systems that directly contribute to national defense and global security. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in image and metadata processing, image quality, and the integration, testing, and flight operations of complex electromechanical systems. Experience with aircraft integration, mission planning, and ground image processing is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should have a proven track record in project management, cost and schedule accountability, process innovation, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver results across various contract types.

What You Will Do

  • Lead teams of engineers to deliver on complex programs.

  • Take responsibility for cost and schedule of technical tasks on said program.

  • Support manufacturing, Integration and Test, Aircraft Integration, Delivery Support and Post Delivery Support teams with technical expertise to assist them in accomplishing their tasks on schedule and within allowable budget.

  • Fill a customer facing role with both foreign and domestic customers

  • Balance the needs of the company with the needs of the customer to deliver a high-quality product that meets customer requirements

  • Comply with engineering development processes and program development life cycles

This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in Westford, MA.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience

  • Experience in all phases of development program lifecycle

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including systems, electrical, mechanical, software

  • Working knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines with a strong focus on sensor systems development & integration 

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience as Project Engineer, Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead, or comparable role

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including systems, electrical, mechanical, software

  • Program Management skills such as Integrated Master Schedule Development, Cost Account Management, Earned Value Management

  • Experience with sensor and avionics equipment
