Senior Software Engineer – Java & .NET

Our team of IT professionals build solutions and critical business applications to digitally transform the way we do business.</span></p><p></p><p></p>We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our Agile development team. This individual will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering innovative solutions across the Broker Connect business portfolio, working in close partnership with business area architects. As a senior member of the team, they will collaborate with technical leads and architects, contribute to solution design, assess emerging technologies for integration, and provide hands-on technical expertise with strategic impact.<br/>The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with deep application and technology skills, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives. Additionally, they will play a key role in mentoring junior Software Engineers, helping to foster a culture of growth and continuous development within the team.<p></p><p></p><p><b>The Role</b></p><ul><li>Lead the design, implementation and maintenance Java and .Net C# solutions aligned with Broker Connect business goals.</li><li>Ensure application performance, quality, and stability with a view towards continuous improvement and optimization for scalability.</li><li>Help drive the development team to update and maintain technical documentation and ensure compliance with coding standards.</li><li>Analyze and troubleshoot system issues, help drive the team in resolving escalations.</li><li>Mentor junior engineers and support continuous team improvement.</li><li>Participate in code reviews, testing (manual and automated), and CI/CD processes.</li><li>Collaborate with business analysts, QA testers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into user stories that can be delivered from a technical perspective.</li><li>Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support application deployment and system upgrades.</li><li>Promote innovation and evaluate new tools and technologies, Maintains depth of technical understanding of third party/cloud solutions and Unum’s implementation of solutions.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What You Offer</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.</li><li>6+ years in software development, preferably in agile environments.</li><li>Must have excellent knowledge and experience with .Net C# and/or Java programming languages.</li><li>Proficiency in CI/CD and automation tools.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.</li><li>Passion for delivering customer-centric, high-quality solutions.</li></ul><p><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Exposure to API integration, AWS, Terraform or middleware technologies.</li><li>Experience in insurance, healthcare, or other regulated industries.</li><li>Familiarity with agile development methodologies.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p>#LI-SF1</p><p><b><span>#LI-Hybrid</span></b></p><p><span>#Hybrid</span></p><p></p><p><b>What We Offer</b><br/>Our size and successful history in Carlow means we can offer you exceptional development and progression, supported by continual learning programs, IT Certifications &amp; third level tuition reimbursement.
