Cloud Cybersecurity Specialist

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cloud Cybersecurity Specialist to join our talented, dynamic team. The Cybersecurity Specialist supports a program that provides cloud security support to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This team supports areas such as cloud security architecture, cloud application migration support, and cloud-hosted system ATOs.

Duties

As a Cloud Cybersecurity Specialist supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to support the delivery of our IT products and services. In this role, you will serve as a cloud security SME and provide oversight and guidance for cloud security standards across the VA. Typical duties include:

• Conducts research on ways to automate the cloud architecture and security control review process to improve the deployment of cloud services
• Supports the implementation of DevSecOps best practices for cloud-hosted systems and applications

• Supports the collection and reporting of key cloud security metrics
• Provides subject matter expertise to cloud security and privacy architecture and design activities
• Helps analyze and assess security-specific areas for cloud application migration efforts
• Provides expertise related to properly selecting and implementing cloud-based security controls required to obtain an authority to operate (ATO)

Requirements

• 10+ years of applicable experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required
• Knowledge and understanding of cloud services such as AWS and Azure
• Experience with DevSecOps principles and best practices

• Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles and organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
• Experience with Cybersecurity policy, risk management, and threat mitigation.
• Experience with using the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) to help systems achieve ATOs within the Federal government is preferred.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty, and Azure Security Engineer Associate are a plus
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers and utilize productivity tools such as MS Teams to keep communications and teams organized
