The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-Time Student-Weld Engineering for John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL, you will...

 

  • Provide support and basic trouble shooting for current operations. Investigate, gather and analyze data for specifically assigned, recurring tasks.
  • Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations and/or new parts or programs of limited scope.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas of limited scope.
  • Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions.
  • Develop and implement plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing through the Deere Production System. Design operation layouts to improve material flow and material presentation.
  • Participate in team studies related to capacity, energy, productivity and efficiency.
  • Implement new manufacturing processes and technology.

 

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

What Skills You Need

​​​​​​

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in an engineering, robotics, or welding discipline; others may apply.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited college/university.
  • Graduation date of May 2026 or later.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.
  • Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly.
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in East Moline, Illinois, on a daily basis year-round.
