As a Manufacturing Cost Analyst (MCA), you will be an integral part of the team responsible for providing KPIs and guidance to the operations teams to optimize financial performance. You will bring your strong analytical expertise and cross-functional collaboration skills to a team focused on working across North America locations to optimize processes, drive efficiencies and support profitable growth. You will have direct interaction with operations teams, controllers (regional, country, and branch) and home office financial departments. This position includes direct support of multiple west coast facilities and requires up to 30% travel.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time) 

Strategic Financial Reporting & Profitability Analysis: Develop, maintain, and review Operations KPIs with relevant departments. Provide variance analysis, investigating areas of concern and prioritizing opportunities for margin improvement. Conduct proactive, in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making, identify areas for profitability improvement, and optimize processes. (20%)

Operational Collaboration: Business partner for the branch operations & finance teams, providing direction regarding opportunities for increased efficiencies and cost savings. Implement best practices and standardize procedures across NA while effectively communicating financial performance and bringing insights to the branch management and operations teams. (20%)

Special Projects: Participate in and/or lead special projects, ad hoc analysis and new business integration support with multi-branch implications as needed, collaborating with the MCA, branch and finance teams. (20%)

Standard Cost Ownership: Develop, maintain and review standard product costing information for finished and semi-finished goods through master data table maintenance, reviewing BOM/Routing changes and supporting cost flow standardization and process enhancements. Provide estimates of new or proposed product/service costs as needed and recommend cost efficiencies for new products. Collaborate with the digital team as needed to support projects that optimize costing frameworks, delivering more efficient, timely, and accurate financial data. (15%)

Budget & Forecast Support: Work closely with procurement and finance teams to provide cost guidance to be used for budgeting and forecast inputs. Proactively communicating significant material changes to allow for pricing &/or operations intervention to protect margins. (15%)

Project ROI Framework: The MCA team is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining and training on a standardized RIO methodology/processes to be used across all NA locations. MCAs are the primary liaisons between finance and operations to ensure adherence to standardized capital evaluation and follow-up requirements. (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of costing methodologies, manufacturing KPIs, ERP system costing and finance modules, financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and advanced financial analysis techniques. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrated experience in a cost analyst role is highly desirable.
