A Day in the Life
The Director, Legal Operations and Transformation for Diabetes MiniMed will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel and lead the organization’s legal department through strategic initiatives, including strategic law department assessments, technology optimization, selections and implementations, organizational design initiatives, target operating model design, business process, governance models, strategic modeling, and decisions for MiniMed’s legal department while building the operational infrastructure to ensure lasting transformation. This role will work closely with IT, and cross-functional teams to evaluate tools, lead system implementations, and continuously improve the user experience for both legal and business stakeholders. This is a highly impactful role with the opportunity to shape how technology enables and scales the legal function in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Help create and lead the legal department’s technology strategy, including implementation, optimization, and oversight of core legal and compliance systems (e.g., CLM, ELM, eBilling, and Workflow platforms).
- Direct oversight of the compliance function’s operational and reporting obligation requirements covering transparency/Sunshine reporting, channel partner management, investigation tracking and reporting, etc.
- Own and manage legal digital platforms, including SharePoint and internal workflow tools, ensuring alignment with department needs and ease of use.
- Partner with cross functional teams to evaluate, and implement legal technology solutions that improve efficiency, and enhance user experience.
- Drive adoption of legal tools and artificial intelligence through effective change management, communication, stakeholder training, and documentation.
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects aimed at transforming how legal services are delivered.
- Transform innovative concepts and strategies into detailed, phased implementation plans that are flexible enough to tolerate significant changes as technology and resourcing continues to evolve. Orchestrate complex, interdependent workstreams across diverse legal functions and collaborator groups.
- Partner with the Separation Management Office (SMO) to build comprehensive tracking systems and ensure initiative momentum and accountability while proactively addressing systemic blockers before they impact progress.
- Design and implement OKR frameworks to measure transformation impact and return on investment. Establish decision-making processes for initiative prioritization. Create regular reporting cadences for executive leadership and supervise adoption rates, intervening when initiatives fall below target thresholds.
- Monitor transformation health metrics and find opportunities to accelerate progress. Scale successful initiatives as the department evolves. Build institutional knowledge to support ongoing transformation efforts.
- Create sustainable operational frameworks that ensure transformation gains persist beyond initial implementation. Build feedback loops to continuously improve transformation approaches. Establish best practices for scaling successful pilots across the global legal organization and sharing knowledge with other support functions (e.g. Finance, Compliance, Human Resources).
