Job Description:
Job Family Definition:
Provides support and/or lead teams through the Engineering development process and implementation of company’s products. Projects are typically shorter-term, less complex and more contained with a defined time frame. Programs are typically longer-term, multi-functional, multi-project with complex requirements and effort. Manage activities, resource capability, schedules, budgets, and ensure cross company communications to facilitate product completion on schedule within budget. Work with engineering management to identify and improve process and program efficiencies. Work can involve external parties such as standards bodies, partners, etc.
Management Level Definition:
Contributions include applying developed subject matter expertise to solve common and sometimes complex technical problems and recommending alternatives where necessary. Might act as project lead and provide assistance to lower-level professionals. Exercises independent judgment and consult with others to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Manages XD Integrated Systems Test (IST) programs for the release of HPC server product solutions, coordinating requirements and tasks with XD IST teams and cross functional engineering and product teams.
- Works with product management to identify product definition, system configuration requirements, and create test schedules in alignment with time to market.
- Drives the IST engineering team to identify test scope and requirements, test plans, schedules, and server solution deliverables to ensure product quality.
- Ensures the XD IST team has sufficient lab equipment, technical requirements, and resources to meet product milestones, and schedule.
- Tracks lab equipment expenses and budget for the XD IST team.
- Coordinates and tracks test execution with XD IST project managers and engineers, IST management, internal engineering teams and external development partners, adjusting resources as needed.
- Keeps the XD IST team aligned, focused on priorities, and on track to meet committed schedules for firmware, software, and product release milestones.
- Communicates program status, test failures, product issue escalations, and risk analysis to stakeholders and management.
- Organizes test results, team progress data, product issues, and team documents in SPIRA, JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint, or equivalent tools used for tracking and communication on behalf of the XD IST team.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, information systems, computer science, or related science, technology, engineering, or related field discipline.
Typically, 4-6 years’ project management experience in a technical environment.
PMP/PMI certification preferred.
Experience with test processes preferred.
Experience in the high-performance computing, computer hardware or relevant technical industry preferred.
Basic knowledge of Linux Oses, firmware/software release processes, and server hardware is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency with project planning and tracking tools such as JIRA, SPIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.
- Experience planning team tasks, milestones, and schedules.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
