Role Overview:

The Principal Process Engineer (MS&T) is responsible for modelling, process evaluation and technology transfer in support of chemical and physical processes in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), serving as a project technical lead to deliver projects on target for quantity, quality, time, and budget.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Leads delivery of own and others engineering and process transfer output with a high degree of scientific integrity, schedule adherence, and quality. Work flexibly and reactively to adapt to the needs of project demands.
  • Exhibits safety awareness by conducting lab and other operations in a safe manner and holding themselves accountable for safe behavior in the work environment.
  • Leads the technology transfer of processes while maintaining a strong professional reputation for Veranova as a leading technology provider. Evaluates risks and changes associated with new offerings. 
  • Applies knowledge and expertise from multi-disciplines to advise others as a subject matter expert (SME) and leads projects and technical areas acting as a role model in all accountable areas.
    • Develops advanced models using tools such as: and VisiMix in support of chemical or physical processes such as spray drying, mixing, and crystallization. 
    • Supports development of Design of Experiments (DOE) in support of scale-down experiments to de-risk scale-up.
    • Define Requirements, commission, and install pilot-scale equipment.
    • Design and implement model-aided workflows.
    • Present the case study and workflows at external international conferences.
  • Expertly shares knowledge, skills and experience communicating both internally and externally and lead focused projects as key contact. 
  • Ensures the relevant technical materials are developed and maintained, including developing potential successors to ensure knowledge is retained in-house.
  • Keeps accurate, legible and complete records of all engineering studies, calculations and scale-up experiments, along with corresponding observations, and equipment details.
  • Writes high quality reports and delivers presentations to customers and management in a timely manner, that aligns with project milestones.
  • Sustains good cross functional relations and frequently identifies new collaborative and commercial opportunities.
  • Actively contributes to the technical development of the department and company, working independently to drive progress in this area.
  • Consistently contributes to the production and review of high-quality project outputs.
  • Lead technology transfer for New Product Introductions.
  • Accomplishes any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities per reasonable request.

Quality/Regulatory Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all documentation complies with Veranova’s standards.
  • Contributes to audit readiness and participates in quality audits with FDA, other regulatory agencies, and customers, as needed.
  • Reports all near misses, accidents, and dangerous occurrences through the appropriate Veranova procedure to ensure an investigation is initiated.
  • Ensures work complies with all state and federal regulations, including GMP, DEA, FDA, etc.

Environmental, Health, & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Follows and abides by all EHS policies, practices, and procedures in association with department specific responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates technical and procedural proficiency and self-assuredness in applying EHS standards.
  • Contributes to audit readiness and participates in EHS
