About the role:

Samsara’s network of hardware devices is a scalable cloud-connected sensor platform that collects and stores observations about the world in near real time. Through our cloud dashboard and mobile app, customers gain real-time visibility and drive efficiencies into their commercial fleet and industrial centre operations.

At Samsara, we value aligning small teams with customer use cases and giving the independence needed to deliver impactful solutions quickly. 

Our Telematics team takes real-time signals from our IoT devices deployed in vehicles (think: GPS, Engine RPM, Fuel Levels and hundreds more) and processes them to help our customers make their vehicle fleets safer, greener, and more efficient. As an Engineering Manager focusing on Firmware within Telematics at Samsara, you will drive teams to develop features that have a tangible impact on current and future customers. You’ll hire and develop your team, define project plans and roadmaps, ensure consistent firmware releases, and work with your engineers to define next-generation technology across our platform. 

The Telematics firmware team, which you will lead, is a cross-functional product engineering team that designs, develops and maintains solutions that help our customers become more sustainable in their fleet operations. We primarily work and collaborate closely with product managers, customer support teams, other firmware teams, and full stack engineers to build out our feature sets. The technology in use includes buildkite, databricks, GraphQL, Golang, C++, Linux, CAN, Wifi, USB and LTE.

We are looking for a highly motivated, goal-oriented engineering manager who loves finding solutions through collaboration. Creating and maintaining a culture of feedback, and making things happen while keeping things fun for the whole team, will be something you will strive to achieve and uphold.
