Job Description

As a Security Officer - Armed Federal Patrol in Reno, NV, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government transportation location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that may help to deter security-related incidents. You will engage riders, staff, and visitors with professional customer service and clear communication while documenting and reporting observations. Position Type: Full Time

Armed guard card holders are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

Pay Rate: $25.00 / Hour

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to location staff and the public by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of transit facilities, parking areas, platforms, buildings, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor for suspicious or unusual activity and help to deter unauthorized access, loitering, vandalism, and other policy violations.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying identification, logging visitors and/or contractors, and directing individuals according to location procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts and coordinating response with location leadership.
  • Operate security-related equipment such as radios, access control systems, and video monitoring systems, and report observed issues per post orders.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and security-related activities in written reports and/or electronic systems with accurate details and timely notifications.
  • Carry and maintain assigned duty gear in accordance with Allied Universal policies, state licensing requirements, and location post orders, including completing required checks and reporting equipment concerns.
  • Assist with traffic and pedestrian flow during peak periods, special events, and service disruptions as directed by location procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with law enforcement, emergency services, and Allied Universal supervision when escalation is needed, and assist with scene control until relieved.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 1+ years' armed security, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card/license.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
